Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) Revision
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has been working on an updated Flood Plain Map for Valencia County, and the new maps will apply to Bosque Farms.
The Community Coordination for the updated Flood Insurance Rate Maps(FIRMs) is almost complete. Within the next few weeks FEMA will post the final results on their website. There will be advertisements in the Valencia County News Bulletin with links to the new maps. Those notices will also appear on the announcements section of the Village Website. The maps and documentation will also be available at the Village offices. There will be a 90 day appeal regarding the maps.
Some properties that are currently in not in a flood zone (X zones) will be going into a flood zone (AE Zone) with the new FIRM. The individuals in those cases who want to have flood insurance or will be required to have flood insurance because mortgage agreements, may want to get flood insurance before the new FIRMS become final, since the rates MAY be lower or will go up after the revised FIRM becomes effective.
Contact the Planning and Zoning Officer (869-2357) for more information on the review process and the current status of the updated FIRM and Flood Insurance Study (FIS). You can also review the Village Flood Hazard Prevention Ordinance for more details on how flood management affects you.
