Flood Plain Management

The majority of the Village of Bosque Farms is in the floodplain. Please check with me to make sure you don’t need permitting for any and all types of development.  In the floodplain, it is not just a matter of needing a building permit for a new structure. All impermeable surfaces need to be recorded in the floodplain. So for example, a concrete slab for a porch would actually need to be permitted and recorded. Please feel free to contact me if you ever have any questions about whether or not you need a permit because most of the time you will! It is far easier to get it right the first time than to have to start over, never mind the added expense!
I have added a couple of links that may be of interest concerning the floodplain. If you would like to see our FIRM or Flood Insurance Rate Map, the following link will take you to the FEMA site. All you need to do is type in your address and it will get you the current map.

You can also view your area via the Valencia County GIS FEMA Zone Identifier.

I would also like to let you know about the National Weather Service and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration links for Spring Safety.

Again, if I can answer any questions please contact me at 869-2358 Monday thru Friday 8 am to 5 pm.
